Staff Sergeant Christopher F. Lewis distinguished himself through extraordinary heroism while serving with Air Force Special Tactics during combat operations in Afghanistan. Facing intense enemy fire, Lewis repeatedly exposed himself to danger while coordinating precision air support and assisting coalition forces engaged in close combat. His actions enabled friendly forces to maneuver safely, defeat enemy positions, and evacuate wounded personnel. Lewis' exceptional courage, composure, and dedication to mission accomplishment earned him the Silver Star and demonstrated the highest standards of Air Force service.
